VuPoint Magic Wand

I selected the VuPoint Magic Wand to be able to scan old photos that my friends and family had at their homes. I am able to come over to their house and scan as many pictures as I want on virtually any table top. The scans are in beautiful color and the USB and 8GB memory card make it simple and easy to upload to my computer. My kit also included a 4 pack of rechargeable batteries, the recharger, a USB cable, 8GB memory card with USB memory stick holder, a hard carrying case and a lens cleaner. This was my high tech solution so they wouldn’t have to part with their pictures while I took them someplace to have copies made. Not only is this less trouble and absolutely no separation anxiety, I can make numerous photo album CD-ROMs to share with everyone. For less than $120 I have my perfect solution for photo gathering without any stress to anyone. I bought this for my sister who reads EVERYTHING and used to take notes from books and magazines and store them and put markers and paperclips and underline and highlight- she literally had boxes and boxes of these marked books to transcribe from. I saw this device while Christmas shopping and even though we weren’t supposed to exchange got it for her. She is NON TECH IN A MAJOR WAY, so that was my worry. No problems, it took 2 minutes to set up, and she was scanning onto the micro disc. She then unloads onto the computer, where she can adjust, crop, whatever, and eventually she will put them on a jump drive or CD. Right now she has about 125 Megabytes of stuff in that folder. You can set up whatever system you like. Why hold on to recipe books for 4 recipes, or magazines for one article?
Great for library patrons, scan the recipe, return the book. Or students who only need this chart or that, or law students, etc. It is extremely portable, very light weight, silent, and can be used anywhere. We’ve eliminated boxes of cookbooks and helpful hit books and magazines and donated them to charity.
We’ve had it 2 months and its been great so far. She just loves it and it is saving us tons of time and money at copy machines and storage issues too.

Cuts off my book page scans

I wanted this thing for one reason, to scan book pages and it doesn’t work right. I am open to the possibility that I am scanning wrong but how hard can it be?? I place the scanner on a page of a book, press scan, move the scanner slowly like the directions say and voila! the scanned page is cut off. This happens 98% of the time. All my pages are cut off in the scans! If this doesn’t work for books than it is a piece of poo poo.
